About Safety
When patients come to the Johns Hopkins Cosmetic Center their welfare and safety come first in all aspects of their care. As a leader in the field of patient safety, Johns Hopkins is dedicated to finding new ways to ensure patient safety.
A culture of safety has been developed. What we mean by this is that every one of our staff plays a role in ensuring patient safety. It begins with our Patient Service Coordinators who greet our patients and make sure that they see the doctors and medical staff in a timely fashion and have their questions answered. Our nurses contribute to patient safety in the care they provide, but also in knowing that if they see any sign of a problem with a patient, they can intervene and communicate with the doctor immediately. Each of our doctors is dedicated to excellence in clinical practice and in so doing they are up to date with the best and safest procedures.
The Cosmetic Patient Safety Program is the first program in the country set up to develop and implement treatment protocols. Not only do the Johns Hopkins Cosmetic Center's protocols improve safety, they also improve outcomes. We strive to obtain the best results possible for our patients while minimizing the risk of complications and problems.
Many patients want to know about safety in surgery. We are fortunate at Johns Hopkins to have many options for patient surgery depending on the complexity of the procedure and the health of the patient. Minor procedures are frequently performed in the office. When anesthesia is required some outpatient procedures are performed in our JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accredited operating rooms in the Cosmetic Center building. For more complex procedures we have the option of performing surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital.
